Fold and color options for your holiday cards will "ux
In preparation for the upcoming holidays, you may want to get a better idea of one of the most, if not the most, frequently used medium for sending well-wishes --- the trustee greeting card. Before the rise of electronic cards sent via email, traditional greeting cards ruled. And compared emails and e-cards, greeting cards still speak volumes more than a lengthy letter send through the internet.
You know that with a greeting card, the sender went out of his way to purchase it, sat down to prepare and write a warm message, and spent time and money to mail it to you. Hence, it is not just the written note that gives the impression of a heartfelt greeting but everything else that it entails to send out a card.
To get the same effect, send out your own set of greeting cards this holiday season. But instead of using pre-made greeting cards found in store racks, you may want to take it one notch higher with your own cards bearing your own design. You can easily send this design to your local or online printer and it printed.
First things first
Start creating your greeting card design, one that recipients would easily associate with you, for personal use, or with your company, for business purposes. There are two elements in your greeting card specs that you can utilize to create an even more unique look. These are the folds and color options.
To score or not to score
For the folds, you may go for the typical half-fold greeting card wherein the stock is folded along the centermost line within the span of its width. Folding may be achieved in two ways, one is by the conventional fold which results to uneven cracks along spine that results from the fold, especially for thick stocks like those used for greeting cards. To prevent such an undesirable result, you can request for scoring.
Scoring is the method of adding a depression along center line of the card¡¯s width to facilitate the folding. Aside from putting a guide for the folding, the scoring makes it easy to fold along the line because in effect, the midline is not as thick anymore as before. The score should be deep enough to make folding effortless but at the same time, not so deep that would leave the greeting card easy to tear along the middle.
Another greeting card fold is the gate fold in which two equal sections along the width of the card are folded into what looks like a gate, hence the name. Contact your local printer to ask if they can accommodate this custom job.
Choose which sides to color
Printing companies typically offer three color options: 4/0, 4/1 and 4/4. The first one, 4/0, represents full color printing on the front panel only which is gives you plenty of room to write your message. To get all sides printed on, you may opt for 4/1 or 4/4. The former means that only the front panel is printed in full color. The other side of the card is printed on using black ink only. The latter, on the other hand, indicates that both sides are printed in full color, perfect if you want to add designs inside your card.
Get nostalgic this season. Spread you message the old fashioned way with the use of greeting cards with up-to-date designs and looks. Keep traditions while adding a modern touch. Get the best of both worlds.
